Weekly Dare
At a recent student activities conference, we had a big dare board and asked students the question: “What’s the one thing you’ve always wanted to do but have because you or someone else was holding you back from it?
From small to large, from funny to serious, students stunned us with the dares they gave themselves. This year, we are spreading the inspiration through our Weekly Dare — a couple sentence email that shares the dares of these students.

Here’s a sample:
“I dare you to hug a bearded man.
A dare from Genai Bunn, a student at Stevenson university. What’s fantastic about this is that Genai realized dares don’t have to be as outlandish as a one-way ticket. They don’t have to break world records. In fact, these small dares embrace every day life. They are things we can do today to enjoy today; ways we can change now, rather than waiting. It’s these small, daily, weekly dares that ultimately build up your readiness for handling bigger ones.
I’m going to hug a bearded man today. What about you?”
